As an Assistant Electrical Technical Manager in Portsmouth, you'll support the safe operation and maintenance of a hospital's HV and LV electrical infrastructure. Working alongside the Technical Manager and five other Assistant Technical Managers, you'll develop technical, compliance and leadership skills while working towards Authorised Person appointments.
The Role As the Assistant Electrical Technical Manager, you'll:
- Support maintenance of HV and LV distribution systems, switchgear and electrical infrastructure.
- Carry out Competent Person duties while working towards Authorised Person appointments.
- Support electrical fault-finding, inspections, testing and compliance.
- Manage specialist contractors, review RAMS and issue permits to work.
- Maintain compliance records using the site CAFM system.
- Support life-cycle and compliance plans while working safely around hospital patients and staff.
About You To be successful as the Assistant Electrical Technical Manager, you'll have:
- Essential: A Level 3 electrical engineering qualification or equivalent.
- Essential: 18th Edition (BS 7671), although 17th Edition may be considered.
- Essential: Strong fault-finding skills and experience with LV distribution systems.
- Essential: An understanding of electrical safety and compliance, with good communication skills.
- Essential: The ability to pass a DBS Standard check.
- Ideally: LV or HV Authorised Person experience, although training is available.
- Ideally: City & Guilds 2391 Inspection and Testing, although training is available.
- Healthcare or PFI experience and knowledge of HTMs would be advantageous.
What's in it for You? - Full-time, permanent position with a £42,000–£44,000 annual salary.
- £270 for each week on the 1-in-5 call-out rota, plus payment for call-outs.
- £780 annual supplement once appointed as an Authorised Person.
- Overtime at time-and-a-half, or double time on Sundays.
- 25 days' annual leave plus public holidays and a pension.
- On-site LV and HV Authorised Person training and 2391 training.
