A Day in the Life of a Recruiter: Lili's Story
Ever wondered what it’s really like to be a recruiter at boden group? Is there more to it than meets the eye? Well, let us introduce you to Lili, one of our fantastic recruiters, as she takes us through a typical day. It’s chatty, it’s real and it might just inspire you to consider a career in recruitment.
Starting Lilis day
6:30 AM: Rise and Shine (and Walkies!)
My day always kicks off with a dose of fresh air and happy wags! Me and my dog head out for our morning walk, a chance for me to clear my head, enjoy the quiet before the day, and get some steps in. It’s the perfect way to start the day feeling refreshed and ready to go.
8:30 AM: Arriving at the HQ
After a quick drive, I pull into the office around 8:30 AM. Today there was a real buzz, with people getting their coffees and helping themselves to a breakfast treat, chatting about their evenings and generally gearing up for the day. Once I’m settled at my desk, I like to take a few minutes to just get organised. I’ll check my emails, flag anything urgent and prepare for what’s ahead.
9:00 AM: The Morning Huddle
Our morning team meeting is always a great start to the day. It’s a chance for us all to catch up, share our plans, celebrate wins from the previous day and iron out any potential roadblocks. We go over our individual day plans, which helps us stay accountable and ensures we’re all working towards our goals.
9:30 AM: Social Savvy with Marketing
Straight after the team meeting, I caught up with our amazing marketing team. This is where we brainstorm and plan our social content, especially for LinkedIn. It’s so important for us to stay on top of industry news and trends, and our marketing team are wizards at turning that into engaging posts. We’ll discuss everything from market trend insights to candidate needs, getting some content ready to go out throughout the week. It’s fantastic to have their support in showcasing our expertise and connecting with our audience.
By the time I’ve finished this session, I’ve usually got my social content prepped and scheduled for the week on LinkedIn, which feels like a mini-win in itself!

10:30 AM: Diving into Candidates and Clients
This is where the magic happens! I’ll dive into my current pipeline, setting up interviews for my Bids and Business Development candidates – these are the incredible people I’m working with to help them find their dream roles. It’s a mix of scheduling, confirming, and making sure everyone has all the information they need.
Alongside this, I’m often on the phone with clients, getting feedback on candidates, discussing new opportunities, and setting up face-to-face meetings. Building strong relationships with both candidates and clients is absolutely key in recruitment, and these conversations are vital for that. It’s all about listening, understanding needs, and connecting the right people.
12:00 PM: Sourcing Candidates:
This involves searching our database, job boards, and LinkedIn. I reach out to candidates who might be a good fit for open roles by sending mailshots, LinkedIn messages, and making phone calls.
1:00 PM: Sunshine Lunch Break!
After a busy morning, there’s nothing better than stepping away from the desk for a proper lunch break. If the weather’s playing ball (and today it was glorious!), I love to grab my lunch and find a spot outside in the sunshine. It’s a great opportunity to recharge, get some vitamin D, and catch up with colleagues.
2:00 PM: Crafting Compelling Job Adverts
This afternoon involved getting quite a few of my job adverts sorted. This isn’t just about listing responsibilities; it’s about understanding your client’s company culture and creating descriptions that truly capture the essence of the role to attract the best talent. I’ll work on making sure they’re clear, engaging, and accurately reflect what our clients are looking for. It’s a bit like being a wordsmith, trying to paint the perfect picture of an opportunity.
4:30 PM: Afternoon Huddle and Home Time!
Towards the end of the day, we’ll often have an informal afternoon catch-up with the team. It’s a chance to touch base, share any last-minute updates, and generally make sure everyone’s feeling good before heading home. It’s a nice way to round off the day, knowing we’ve all been working together.
And just like that, the day’s done! I’ll pack up my things, say my goodbyes, and head home, ready to do it all again tomorrow.

So, what do you think? Does a day like Lili’s sound interesting to you?
Being a recruiter is both challenging, and incredibly rewarding. No two days are ever truly the same, and you get to make a real impact on people’s lives. If you’re a people person, enjoy a fast-paced environment, and love connecting talent with opportunity, then a career in recruitment might just be the perfect fit for you!
