Refrigeration Engineer

A Mobile Refrigeration Engineer is required to maintain and repair commercial and industrial refrigeration systems across a portfolio of operational facilities covering Bristol and the M4 corridor.

This mobile position combines planned maintenance, reactive fault-finding and specialist refrigerant management. You'll work independently across multiple sites, maintaining refrigeration equipment, resolving technical faults and ensuring systems remain safe, efficient and compliant with environmental regulations.

The Role

As the Mobile Refrigeration Engineer, you'll:
  • Deliver planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across commercial refrigeration systems.
  • Diagnose faults involving compressors, condensing units, evaporators and refrigeration packs.
  • Inspect and maintain pipework, valves, expansion devices, pressure controls and associated components.
  • Investigate refrigerant leaks, temperature fluctuations, equipment alarms and cooling performance issues.
  • Carry out refrigerant recovery, charging and leak detection within your certification and authorisation.
  • Maintain electrical components, control panels, fans, motors and defrost systems.
  • Identify recurring faults, recommend remedial works and support improvements to equipment reliability.
  • Complete accurate maintenance reports, refrigerant records and digital work orders using CAFM systems.
About You

To be successful as the Mobile Refrigeration Engineer, you'll have:
  • A relevant City & Guilds, NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent refrigeration or building services qualification.
  • Appropriate F-Gas certification for the refrigerant activities undertaken, with Category I preferred where applicable.
  • Proven experience maintaining commercial or industrial refrigeration systems.
  • Strong fault-finding skills across refrigeration circuits, electrical components and control systems.
  • Experience with refrigerant recovery, charging, leak detection and environmental compliance.
  • Good knowledge of electrical safety, safe isolation and permit-to-work procedures.
  • Experience using CAFM systems and completing accurate technical maintenance records.
  • A full UK driving licence and the ability to manage a mobile workload independently.
Experience with SFG20 maintenance standards, temperature monitoring systems, manufacturer-specific refrigeration equipment or lower-GWP refrigerants would be advantageous.

What's in it for You?

  • £55,000–£65,000 annual salary.
  • Full-time employment.
  • Mobile role covering Bristol and the M4 corridor.
  • Varied maintenance and fault-finding responsibilities across specialist refrigeration equipment.
  • Opportunity to work with refrigeration controls, monitoring systems and refrigerant technologies.
Travel between designated sites across Bristol and the M4 corridor is required.
