There are a lot of fantastic things about being the Managing Director of a recruitment company. Helping to create a fun and engaging work environment. Watching my teams flourish. Bringing new people into the business and seeing them making their first placements…
But if I’m being completely honest with you, it would be a little remiss of me not to mention out annual overseas incentive trip. Every year we take our highest performers on a trip abroad to say thank you and well done. Obviously, last year posed some barriers to travel, so we’re playing catch up this year!
As our team at the office wrapped up September, I was heading out to the stunning capital of Portugal with our four top performers from 2019/20.
Why have an overseas incentive?
Competition is a great motivator here at Boden, and we try to give as many incentives as we can, in order to recognise everyone who does well. That includes employee of the month, quarterly high flyers celebration meals, and of course our annual overseas incentive.
Secondly, our teams work hard. They give a lot to their roles, and a lot to the business. I'm a big advocate for work life balance and employee wellbeing. That's why we introduced a 4 and a half day week, and that's why our annual incentive is a holiday! I genuinely believe the happier people are, the better job they do.
And finally, our overseas incentive is my opportunity to say thank you to what is a consistently high performing, talented group of people. Being able to do something completely different with them is a joy, and it's a privilege to spend a few days in the sun getting to know them away from work and in a completely different context.
Lisbon, I must say, was one of the best trips yet. Some gorgeous sights, and some well deserved relaxation. Alongside the usual museums, churches, boat trips etc, there were some real stand out moments that I'd have to recommend.
We visited Rua Cor de Rosa, or Pink Street in English, we enjoyed cocktails and live music in the infinity pool at SUD Lisboa Terrazza. And we visited Praça do Comércio - the huge riverfront square, where we were able to see the Arco da Rua Augusta, or Triumphal Arch.
Portugal has some pretty excellent culinary treats on offer, and as you can imagine, the seafood was unbelievably good.
We’re not sure where our next overseas incentive trip will be yet, but it’s bound to be spectacular. Want to join us? Well you have to be in it to win it, and luckily we’re currently looking to expand our team. So if you like the sound of earning an overseas trip each year, or a fancy meal each quarter (high flyers club), or £100 in vouchers each month (employee of the month), why not get in touch and see if a career in recruitment could be for you!
