Boden Property are retained to find an independent Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a privately owned residential developer in Birmingham. 
They are now seeking a confident Quantity Surveyor to join them and help to deliver a number of new build residential properties across the West Midlands. The boutique developer are searching for a Quantity Surveyor who has client side experience and wants to take on a more autonomous role working directly with the Managing Director. This Senior Quantity Surveyor must have 5 or more years residential focussed experience and delivered projects from cradle to grave.
Quantity Surveyor requirements:

  • Established good working relationships with a wide range of subcontractors
  • Degree educated in Quantity Surveyor or similar
  • At least 5 years’ experience as a surveyor within residential construction
  • Good organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects to a high degree of quality and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills with both internal and external customers
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Driving licence essential
Quantity Surveyor Duties  
  • Review internal and external specification and assess cost impacts
  • Procure subcontract packages to specification and budget, ensuring all bids are fully compliant and on a ‘like-for-like’ basis
  • Negotiate best value whilst maintaining expected levels of quality and workmanship
  • Prepare tender enquiry lists and packages, including scopes of works
  • To review, manage and minimise dayworks, variations and other non-productive costs
  • Provide accurate cost data for future site viabilities and budgets
  • Create and maintain mutually beneficial working relationships with subcontractors through regular liaison, teamwork and information sharing
  • Settlement of final accounts for each trade
  • Maintain an accurate and stable build cost base
  • Forecast and mitigate cost risk
  • Generate accurate payments in a timely manner in accordance with authorisation levels and commercial procedures
  • Report on cost movements and budgets as required
  • Monitor and feedback on subcontractor performance
  • Additional tasks as reasonably required from time to time
