An excellent opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to gain invaluable experience and to progress their career with a highly reputable construction company, within a high standards and high rewards environment. We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a company in Oxford. With a number of ground works packages in place for the next two years and beyond they want a Senior Quantity Surveyor who has experience of running large civils contracts on residential development sites.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the management of all costs relating to projects. Take the process from initial inquiry and estimate through to when the build is in progress and on through to final costs. Ensure that costs are minimised and enhance value for money, whilst ensuring that the Company is achieving required standards and quality.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Understand the implications of health and safety regulations to the Company sites
  • Understand the principles of safety on site and ensure that any concerns are addressed immediately with the support of the safety team, commercial team and/ or Directors as appropriate
  • Provide administrative assistance to the commercial team
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently and efficiently
  • Prepare tender and contract documents
  • Build relationships and understand client’s and their requirements
  • Apply value management and cost control
  • Keep track of variations
  • Understand the Company procurement function and its interaction with site and impact on overall job cost and performance
  • Prepare and analyse costings for tenders
  • Identify commercial risks and develop responses/ actions to them
  • Valuate completed work and arrange payments
  • Build an awareness of the different building contracts in current use applicable to the Company
  • Undertake personal on-going development
  • Other duties as reasonably required from time to time

Skills and qualifications:

  • Degree or similar in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
  • Proficient computer skills particularly in excel
  • General reasoning ability and the ability to take on new concepts quickly and efficiently
  • Possess good skill with numbers and strong mathematical ability
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Must hold a Full UK Driving license
  • Sites are located throughout Oxfordshire, must be able to respond to company requirements to attend sites
  • CSCS card
