Energy and Sustainability Manager - Permanent - £40,000 - £43,000/annum plus bonus and benefits

Boden Group have partnered with a global Facilities Management company who are looking to bring an Energy and Sustainability Manager onto their team in Northern Ireland.

You will be the acting subject matter expert for anything energy and sustainability, driving operational and environmental excellence across a portfolio of government sites in Northern Ireland. This is a brand-new opportunity within a dynamic team, so it’s a great opportunity to really make your mark within the business.

You will need to be an experienced Energy professional with a strong knowledge of legislative requirements and energy management systems (ISO 50001). Ideally you’ll have strong knowledge of energy, sustainability and waste management across a portfolio of buildings.  

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Advising the Client and suppliers on utility, waste, and sustainability aspects to ensure a level of excellence is maintained across the client sites.  
  • Working towards sustainability standards such as BREEAM, SKA, LEED, ISO 14001, etc.
  • Keeping informed on current and upcoming energy regulation and legislation, to inform the business and the Client of any changes and ensuring compliance is maintained.
  • Working alongside the asset management, projects, estates and maintenance teams to make sure sustainability standards are upheld in all areas of the contract.
  • Developing and rolling out a sustainability strategy for the contract to include facilities management, infrastructure and building use.
  • Reviewing and managing key sustainability and financial metrics such as utilities, waste management, and energy efficiency.
  • Identifying and submitting business cases for energy, waste and water reduction initiatives.


What you’ll need to succeed:

  • A background in sustainability relating to building or facilities management
  • Relevant qualifications in an energy, waste management or sustainability field
  • Excellent knowledge of legislative requirements such as CRC, ESOS, DECs, MEES, Waste Management
  • Knowledge of Energy Management Systems (ISO 50001)  
  • Able to build excellent relationships, influence and communicate with the senior leadership team and stakeholders
  • Strong financial and business acumen
  • Membership to a relevant professional body (IEMA, CIWM, CIBSE) would be highly advantageous.
